BrunchFest

I promised myself that in the New Year that I would brunch more and so far I’m on the right path.  This past February I attended DrinkEatRelax – BrunchFest series in DC at Union Market.  It was a beautiful and sunny day in our Nation’s Capital.  I was so grateful to have company this time and it was with someone who is very dear to me.  We feasted and had an awesome time with other foodies; or shall I say we drunk a lot and partied the day away!

Upon arrival to the venue we received our signature BrunchFest glasses as a souvenir  and drinking cup for tasting.  They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day . . . but the abundance of liquor that was in the room I forgot what I was there to do!  As a potato lover, I sighted the breakfast potatoes first.  So many vendors showcased breakfast potatoes in different variations that every time I spotted some, I grabbed it and crushed.  Made my way over to enjoy samples from Drunken Fruit since they had a crowd at their table.  Drunken Fruit is an understatement!  I tried the sour apple and watermelon flavors and it was BOOZY!  The liquor is potent and present.  Potent in a good way foodies!  This would be a great gift or an afternoon snack for my boozy lovers.

T-Mac and beau enjoyed breakfast treats from bagel bites, sausage and gravy, BACON and an assortment of tasty coffee and alcoholic spirits.  I must say that I thoroughly and I do mean thoroughly enjoyed the potato hash & pulled pork from Old Blue BBQ.  Four words . . . PARTY IN MY MOUTH!  The pork was juicy and tender, the eggs were light and fluffy and the salsa had the right amount of heat.  I picked up my sample and my beau thought I was sharing it with him . . . sorry boo get your own!  A few steps away were one of my favorite food truck vendors.  Major shout out to the ladies at Puddin!  It was so good to see a familiar face and I’m such a fan of theirs.  I typically know Puddin for their savory dishes like their shrimp & grits or gumbo, but on this day I had their Brown Butter Bourbon Bread Puddin.  Bread puddin isn’t on my radar in the dessert family; however this decadent bite was savory and delightful.

Now on to more booze!  We made our way over to the FireFly station and tasted their delicious spirits.  Pour.  Drink.  Rinse.  Repeat! The DJ played all the party tunes and we danced, sipped and enjoyed the sites.  I must say I was sad I missed the mimosa bar, but the other drinks samples kept me happy for sure!

This was a great way to start off the New Year and one of many brunch festivities to add to the books!  Enjoy!

Oh my god, my friend told me about this event, and I completely forgot about it. I may have missed it, but your article filled me in on all the details…now I need to go fill my belly.
