Eggs & Biscuits!

These past couple of days, I have been glued to the TV watching repeats of The Best Thing I Ever Ate So Far and drooled over every dish each chef enjoyed. Which brings me to Crimson Diner + Whiskey located in the heart of Chinatown DC. The décor is not your typical diner style; which makes this spot unique! All-day breakfast in addition to southern comfort food classics like Sausage Gravy & Biscuits, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Shrimp & Grits. I was told depending on who was in the back of the house was dependent upon the deliciousness of the creamy grits this diner serves, but you didn’t hear that from me! 😅

Anyway . . . your favorite foodie was in the mood for breakfast on our Indigenous Peoples’ Day and after taking a poll I decided to skip down to Chinatown. Well actually all of my recent blogs have been about dishes other than breakfast so here I am eating the most important meal of the day.  Yesterday, I thoroughly enjoyed a flaky, buttery, and soft biscuit with butter and jelly. I realized that after a few bites, I was getting full off this delicious piece of bread. I mean I went layer for layer; one with butter and one with jam! Listen Linda, if you knew what I knew you would walk away from that biscuit too! 😆

I’m typically a steak & eggs foodie for breakfast, but that was not a selection on the menu. I assume that’s not “Southern” enough for these chefs 🤷🏾‍♀️. After much consideration, I decided to order the Western Omelette with home fries. The omelette was good I must say, but I needed salsa or pico de gallo to dress it up then it would’ve been amazing.  The home fries were nothing to rave about. They were al dente when they should have been cooked well done. I was disappointed and almost considered asking for new potatoes, but opted to grin and bare!

All in all, I had a great experience and will definitely come back. Don’t get discouraged from what I ate yesterday, trust me they have good eats here! Everything looked and smelled amazing! Foodies, this is my second visit by the way. My first visit was memorable; perhaps I should’ve blogged about that🤦🏾‍♀️. On my first visit I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich: juicy chicken breast, seasoned to perfection, on a buttery bun, with crispy French Fries!

For all my gin lovers and foodies all over . . . come visit Crimson Diner to enjoy a nice refreshing Crimson Punch, head to the rooftop, enjoy the food and views! Bon Appétit!! 🥂
